South Pasadena, La Canada and San Marino competed in the D4 Girls Finals as teams. La Canada placed 9th with 273 points, South Pas placed 11th with 282 points, and San Marino placed 22nd with 546 pts. The top 7 teams advance to the CIF State meet, so none of the teams headed to Fresno. However, Tiger Sydney Morrow came in 6th in a time of 18:09 and Spartan Ellaney Matarese placed 15th in 18:30 to qualify for State as individuals. La Canada’s Sarah Auther (22nd, 18:51), South Pas’ Mai Koyama (47th, 19:31), and Tiger Lindsay Michels (57th, 19:41) rounded out the top 5 Rio Hondo finishers.
South Pasadena and La Canada competed in the D4 Boys Finals as teams, with the Tigers placing out of State contention in 13th with 282 points and the Spartans placing 19th with 509 pts. The top five Rio Hondo finishers were South Pas’ Sam Clark (35th, 16:13), Patrick Latting (41st, 16:19), Andrew Villapudua (46th, 16:24) and Andrew Parkinson (76th, 16:44), and La Canada’s Sheldon Watanabe (79th, 16:45).
In the D3 Girls race, Temple City’s Clarissa Hong and Monrovia’s Alayna Peters ran as individuals. Hong placed 21st in a time of 18:52 and Peters place 31st with a 19:06 clocking. Links to complete race results and race video are below:
